Mother's Day Card/ Stairway Effect

It's hard to believe the weekend is here already! It is harder to believe the ground is covered in snow mid April!!!, must be hard for gardeners I would think!

With Mother's Day sneaking up on us I thought I would share a simple card I made last night, this card can be made in less than an hour. The sentiment came from a Word scrapbooking 12"by12" page...

Hope it inspires you to make a quick card!

I should have taken a side view shot to show the depth which really makes this card... I started using the self adhesive glitter foam sheets for dimension, it works great .. To get the 3D effect on the front layers I started on the right side , first layer flat on page, second layer with foam tape , third layer with Glitter foam sheets.. it gives the stairway effect!

Have a fantastic weekend, I will be visiting you!!!!

Using "SEAGLASS" on a card

Happy Thursday, can't believe the week went by so quickly!

This is my second post today so if you are looking for the Winner post click here.

Today I have a project I made for a friend of mine here on the Island, we have been really close for about a year and lately I have been so ill we never had the chance to get together at all. She is a very understanding lady and I am so grateful for that... The Sentiment on the outside is "Besties for life" from Crafty Sprouts and inside I am going to thank her for being so understanding. This lady makes jewerly out of seaglass and I have picked it for her for the last year but I just may have found a new way to use it!

Have you ever heard of Seaglass????

I pretty much live on top of a beach that is loaded with this stuff, it never ends even though all summer long Islanders are constantly picking it , even tourists are on to it and actually visit for that very reason!
Seaglass is old broken bottles that have tumbled through waters and sand for years until they are perfectly smooth... they have a light white coating due to the salt but a little lotion can make them your favorite bling to use on a project! That is what I did... You can only use a little of course because they may weigh your card down with too many.... I managed to sit in one place and pick the tiniest I could find... check it out!!!!

I would sell it if I figure out if it would be worth it due to the cost of shipping... you can buy it all over the Internet but they are usually the size of a nickel and bigger... mine can be as small as a piece of sand! The ones I used on my project are about the size of a dime or less.

Oh and I received twine from The Twinery the other day and finally got a chance to use it... I loveeeeeeeeeee it!!!!

The background with the seaglass on top was a really hot pink and I really wanted to use it so I used Gesso which muted the color to the one I wanted! I used Tim Holtz Ranger sticklers on the blue pennant.

Have a wonderful Thursday!
